Why Anchor Philanthropic Capital?

The need for philanthropic funding at scale within the UK is perhaps unexpected but is certainly acute.

• In 2024, one in four people in the UK were living in poverty.
• Homelessness in England has grown by 26% over the last five years.
• In 2022/2023 three million children were living in relative poverty across the UK.
• The National Health Service is broken (per Lord Darzi’s review for the UK Government, September 2024).

But levels of philanthropy in the UK, when compared with America, have always been extremely low.

The considerable increase of multi-millionaires in the UK in recent years has not resulted in any significant increase in philanthropy. Funds need to be drawn from elsewhere.
